Unique Gifts in Athelhampton's Shop

While Athelhampton is a historic house, we also have a mission to support modern day local artists and craftspeople, even in small ways. Various local artisans stock Athelhampton's shop, supplying beautiful pieces that you can't find anywhere else.

A rectangular silver pendant with a blue stone set in it sits on white padding in a dark red, square box. It sits in a glass display case with other items of jewellery in similar boxes blurred out in the background.

One such artist is Silvia Pineda. The Mexican born daughter of a jeweller and a sculptor, artistry runs in her blood. She exhibited her paintings in our art gallery, and her jewellery and ceramics are now a staple in Athelhampton's shop. Her love of colour is clearly reflected in her work, and she is perpetually exploring and innovating.

An unglazed pottery vase with ferns impressed into it sits in the foreground, with other pieces of pottery blurred in the background.

The jewellery she creates is in sterling silver, combined with fused and dichroic glass, semi-precious stones, hand painted silk set in resin, crystals, and all manner of other beautiful and colourful materials. Her ceramics celebrate life and nature, reflecting the vitality and spontaneity that can be found in the environment that surrounds us.

When you visit us at Athelhampton, either to explore our house and gardens, or to enjoy the food in our restaurant, be sure to have a look in the cases at the beautiful work Sylvia has created. We're open daily, save for a few days over Christmas.
