Calm Weather in a Dorset Historic House and Gardens

Calmer weather at Athelhampton today, the snow, frost, rain and wind of the last week was replaced by a dull grey sky.

A view of Athelhampton's Tudor Great Hall, looking towards the fire place. The fire is lit in the fire place, and to the left there is a large Christmas tree decorated with lights, and red and gold decorations. To the left is the oriel window, and next to it is a wrought iron candelabra with lit candles in it. In the foreground, at the centre of the hall, is a large table with a bench at each of the long sides of it and a chair at the head.

Low level lighting, candles, log fire and antique furnishings mean it’s like a step back in time, and that's without looking at the other 16 historic rooms available to explore.

A close up of the medieval armoire in Athelhampton's Tudor Great Hall. It's a large, squarish cupboard that retains much of its green paint, and is bound in iron straps making a grid around it. Two keyholes are visible on its doors.
