Extended Opening Times at Athelhampton House: One of Dorset's Most Popular Visitor Attractions

Updated: 5 days ago

Due to popular demand and increased visitor numbers, from the beginning of March, Athelhampton House has been opening an hour earlier than we were in the winter.

A grandfather clock face against green silk damask wall coverings. The frame of the clock is dark wood, inlaid with flowers and leaves in pale green, white, and dark orange. The face of the clock is mostly gold, with the numbers in roman numerals against silver. The time shown is 11:13.

Our new opening times at Athelhampton result in the house opening at 10 instead of 11, so you can wander around and explore inside as soon as you arrive, rather than meandering through the gardens first. Not only does this mean that you've got even more time to explore over 20 rooms open in the house, it also means we've been able to offer guided tours as well as free flow options for our visitors.

We're open every day throughout the year, except for a few days at Christmas. Both house and gardens now open at 10am, and last admission is at 4pm.
