Looking after Pollinators in Athelhampton’s Historic Gardens

Updated: Apr 16

We grow much more than fruit and vegetables in our Kitchen Garden.

Running through centre of the 1 acre walled garden is the central axis, with rich deep herbaceous borders filled with pink and blue, to attract pollinators into the garden.

These plants are varied through the seasons, but at the moment in Athelhampton's historic gardens you can come and see lupins, poppies, delphiniums, sea holly, and cornflowers amongst many others.

Our visiting pollinators are just as varied as the plants, and include bee flies, pond hawks, and leaf cutter bees, as well as a rainbow of butterflies.

Come and visit our gardens to see this richness for yourself - we're open 7 days a week throughout the year!
