Gorgeous Autumnal Colours in the Historic Gardens at Athelhampton

Updated: 6 days ago

Wandering through the historic gardens at Athelhampton in the autumn sunshine, you can see the liquidambar glowing deep red against the golden leaves of the tulip tree beyond — a perfect moment of colour that only October can bring.

The liquidambar tree at the centre of the image has deep red leaves contrasting against the bright yellow of the tulip tree behind it. The two trees are framed behind and on either side by green trees, and below is the green of grass and flower beds. Behind is a blue sky, and a small corner of the historic house.

Athelhampton feels especially peaceful at this time of year; the mellow stone of the house and the still ponds seem to reflect the calm of the season.

Athelhampton House, Gardens, Restaurant and Shop are open all year round.
