A Frosty Morning in Athelhampton's Historic Gardens

Updated: Mar 31

A beautiful but freezing Dorset morning at Athelhampton.

A quick wander through the historic gardens at 7.30am, long before the sun reached the rooftops, produced some lovely pictures. The ground was glistening with frost and the thermometer was sitting at four degrees below zero, a quiet reminder that winter has truly arrived.

It was a couple of hours before we opened to visitors today, but despite the cold, the old Tudor house with its modern carbon neutral air source heating is toasty warm and welcoming.

We're open all year around - only closed for a few days over Christmas and New Year.
