New for 2020 our Heritage Saturdays are a programme of events designed for families with children. We will open Athelhampton on a selected range of dates, each with a themed activity or entertainment.

Athelhampton is proud to be a member of the Historic Houses, the association for independent and privately owned houses in the UK that are open for visiting.
Your HH membership allows free entry at Athelhampton and 5% discount in our shop and restaurant.
Historic Houses Members
On the A35 from Dorchester Poole, or A354 from Blandford follow our signs at the "Northbrook" junction, left at the traffic lights in Puddletown.
Dorchester has two stations, with Taxi service from Dorchester South, a short walk from Dorchester West.

The admission charge is £10 per person for pre-booked groups of 12 or more.

We welcome all people with disabilities
Our team receives disability awareness training to assist you in having a great day at out Athelhampton.
As a Grade 1 listed site the infrastructure naturally limits some access, however
all disabled visitors are entitled to a matched price carers ticket to support their visit.
(a proffessional carers free pass is available to businesses)

Wheelchairs are available upon request.
Access ramps for entry to house and
accessible toilets in Visitor Centre.
Toilets facilities including an accessible / baby change cubicle are located in the visitor centre.
An additional toilet is provided on the first floor of the house.
Free Wifi is provided in the visitor centre.
A picnic area is provided, but we request please take your rubbish home with you so that you can recycle it.
We use CCTV throughout the estate, recording images for the protection of the historic buildings, our visitors and staff.
Information For Your Visit
Photography & Filming
We welcome amateur photography, though request that you do not photograph or film any other visitors or our staff, use selfie sticks, flying drones or flash guns.
(for commercial use you must contact the Estate Manager)
Dogs are welcome on a lead throughout the gardens, only Assistance dogs are allowed in the house.
We request that you do not touch plants around the gardens, many plants can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.
Please do not take seeds or take cuttings from our plants (we consider this theft)
Eating and Shopping
you do not need to pay admission to visit our restaurants or gift shop
Athelhampton offers a selection of areas for you to enjoy a drink or a meal and ask that only food and drink purchased on the premises is consumed. (except food of babies and tiny children)
Athelhampton has a lovely gift shop that sells a range of local products and souveniers.
A plant sales area is open from March to October.
