Discover Marking Out the Boundaries, a contemporary art exhibition in the East Wing Gallery at Athelhampton House & Gardens in Dorset. Day Bowman’s bold abstract paintings explore enclosure, boundaries and the changing English landscape, where field patterns, hedges and centuries of human intervention have left their mark.

Alongside them, Henrietta Irving’s extraordinary sculptural vessels in coiled basketry take inspiration from vanished medieval ponds, hidden hollows and traces of landscapes transformed over time. Together, the works create an atmospheric conversation between landscape, history, memory and making.

Dorset artist Sarah Jayne Jefferies presents a striking collection of contemporary landscapes and botanical studies. Working in acrylic and mixed media, she layers ink, wax, pastel and spray to capture the changing light and seasons of the local countryside. Her expressive, abstract compositions bring a fresh, atmospheric perspective to Athelhampton’s historic Tudor house and award-winning gardens.
