Did you know Athelhampton is solar powered?
We have 400 Solar Panels in two hidden locations!
Our current solar generation is

The solar power feeds into our distribution centre where we have battery storage that can hold 160kWh of electricity that we can use at night.
(160kWh is enough to run a LED light bulb for 4 years!)
Our solar power is then distributed around the estate, we sell a little power to an architect's office, a joiner's workshop, a small farm on the estate, and EV charging, but most is used in Coach House Restaurant and theTudor House, any surplus is exported to the electricity grid.
weather explanation

To reduce our carbon emissions we removed all fossil fuels.
The Coach House Restaurant & River Cottage are heated by 4 Ground Source Heatpumps.
The Tudor House is heated by 15 Air Source Heat Pumps, all hidden out of view!
(Our Heat Pumps are 5 times more efficient than our old gas boilers)

Since we started generating our own power in 2022 we have generated:
(live data, updated every 5 minutes)
(a typical English village of 500 people similar to Tolpuddle uses about 300MWh per year)
That is over kg of COâ‚‚ emissions we have saved
or think about it this way, its the equivilant of planting lots of trees
